Sowers and Reapers

“My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work. Do you not say ‘Four months more, then comes the harvest’? But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting. The reaper is already receiving wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true, ‘One does and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” - John 4:34-38

This passage led me to ponder- am I okay with just being the sower? All grit and sacrifice, but no personal glory or comfort? Am I truly doing things for the Kingdom or am I simply just anxious for the reaping?

And when I reap, do I not realize that it is out of nothing of my own will or talent? That it is God working through all of us and that we are one body who need one another?

To God be the total glory! Let us sow and reap no matter the outcome, with less consciousness of self, and with the confidence that we are doing it for our God and fellow people.
